Guys (I’m assuming more than one person besides me is reading this), I liked my Song Of The Day posts. But daily updates of what my current earworms are is starting to catch up to me and my increasingly-busy schedule. So, I’m changing it to “Listening To…”; in this case, I can also post podcasts and non-music favorites of the moment, and I don’t have to so daily.
Long Live Song Of The Day. Like the Maple Leafs in the NHL Playoffs every year, it had a brief but good run.
I forgot Janis Joplin’s birthday yesterday–shame on me! RIP to a forever legend. Obligatory: bring back real musicians who make music from the soul and don’t have to look pretty & produce cookie-cutter fluff appeal to the masses and record companies!!
Her voice and the guitar in this is magical. (Actually, you can speak the same for all of Janis’ songs.) Also, I’m tired of the cold-butt winter!
YouTube can be a cesspool and a haven at the same time. For those seeking out rare 90s dance hits/tunes they can’t get on streaming radio, it’s the latter. I’ve been playing this long megamix almost daily. Fun songs include the first three minutes, the 10:30 mark, and the 24:15 mark.
Have fun on this holiday weekend! (PS: this is one interesting driving video.)
Let’s stay on the sexy song streak once more, with a classic jam from today’s birthday honey, the legendary Sade! (I adore a lot of her songs, so it was hard to choose just one! But I am feeling for something 80s today, and nothing beats the classics.)
Happy Hump Day! I’m still on a sensual streak and I’m not gonna stop until the early mornin’.
Also, spot the young J-Lo in the video!
I see it’s LL Cool J’s birthday today, so let’s all rise for the National Anthem for Sluts, shall we?
Gotta have house music, all weekend long! 😀
Remember when rap songs had a decipherable message that was important and useful to its listener, and accompanied by a catchy melody? I do. *pops a Werther’s* This takes me back to my Freshman year in high school. Good times!
Happy New Year, everyone! I remember first hearing this song when I was a teen in the late 90s. This was in a 90s dance megamix I recently discovered, and I forgot how much of a jam it is! (And don’t bother me with Cardi Blah’s version of this; I’m not here for a butchering.)
The New Year is upon us, so how ’bout we party hearty tonight?
In honor of it being the last day of the year and the 2010s (and that today would’ve been Donna Summer’s birthday)…
And, since it’s also the 25th anniversary of this amazing megamix…(this is a looooong one, which will keep your party jumpin’ till the mornin’!)
See you in 2020!!!
There was supposed to be a favorite song of mine from this decade posted today. (And, mind you, I have very few songs I liked from the 2010s; it was an overall shit decade for “music”) But this jam got stuck in my head yesterday, and 90s Carmen Electra, rapping? Oh hell yeah! The pop tarts of today got nuthin’ on Miss Electra! I swear, if I was a Bi-curious chick in the early 90s, Carmen would have definitely been one of the chicks who would flip me from “curious” to fully Bi in a snap.
