Two important things!
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court ruled Monday that a landmark civil rights law protects LGBT people from discrimination in employment, a resounding victory for LGBT rights from a conservative court.
The court decided by a 6-3 vote that a key provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 known as Title VII that bars job discrimination because of sex, among other reasons, encompasses bias against LGBT workers.
“An employer who fires an individual for being homosexual or transgender fires that person for traits or actions it would not have questioned in members of a different sex. Sex plays a necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII forbids,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote for the court…
And I didn’t have time to mention this earlier, but yours truly had to get a Covid-19 test last week. It was recommended that I get one since I attended a BLM protest two weeks ago. (And for those who did attend any of those rallies/protests, I suggest you get tested as well!) This was my second time getting tested, as I got one last month from my healthcare provider (due to me being an essential worker). This time, I was more than prepared for that dreaded nasal swab; the first time stung like a muthafucka. My first test was negative, and I had my fingers crossed that the results would be the same the second time around.
